YACCA
The Job Futures Youth Services YACCA program has been designed for young people:
To have a positive future by encouraging independence through support.
To provide young people with opportunities to participate in activities that inspire them to become actively involved in the community.
To learn new skills and make informed decisions.
Activities are designed to assist young people to enhance and build on their interests, skills and abilities, through group and individual support.
In addition to groups and school holiday programs, YACCA offers individual support for each young person.
This includes providing assistance and information with personal, family, educational, vocational, health and relationship issues, referral and court support.
Individual support and group work enables the youth workers, young person and their families to set goals, explore issues and work on solutions, through a case management framework.
Clients are given assistance and advice to:
- Find stable accommodation. This involves assisting with issues that prevent young people from finding accommodation.
- Remain at or return to school.
- Set goals and obtain a job. Young people are assisted in preparing for work, and dealing with issues preventing them from obtaining employment. Post-placement support is provided.
- Undertake suitable training.
- Manage health, legal and financial issues, including Centrelink and income support.
