What is the role of the Youth Support Coordinator?


  • To help young people and their families resolve issues that may lead to early school leaving.

  • To help young people develop social and personal skills to live in the community.

  • To help link schools and young people to the community so better resources can be provided.


What can the Youth Support Coordinator do for you?


  • Provide a safe place where you can talk in confidence with someone who is linked to the school but is separate from the school's structure.

  • Support you to make decisions about your life.

  • Assist youwith any relationship issues you mught be having with your teachers, parents or friends.

  • Talk with your parents or your teachers on your behalf.

Refer you to other agencies that can help you with:


  • employment
  • health
  • accomodation
  • training
  • finance

The Youth Support Coordinator can also provide:


  • Individual counselling
  • Family mediation
  • Group work

Confidentiality


Anything you say to the Youth Support Coordinator is confidential unless you or someone else is at risk of being harmed.


Any discussion you have with the YSC stays with the YSC unless your permission is granted to talk to others.
