Community Development Employment Programme (CDEP)
isaSKILLS is contracted by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) to facilitate the Community Development and Employment Program (CDEP) through its Training, Careers & Employment Program (TCEP).
CDEP enables participants to work on community activities or, with employers to develop work skills and experience. Formal training opportunities that target the individuals work or career goals needs are available.
A strategy to improve permanent employment outcomes for CDEP participants is the:
Host Employer Program (HEP)
CDEP Host Employer Program objectives are:
- provide work experience opportunities for long term unemployed people
- provide access to personal and professional skills development
- provide employers with a sustainable workforce
- provide opportunities for long term, full time employment
CDEP participants are placed with employers in accordance with their work and career goals. isaSKILLS assists the participant and employer by providing formal training for the CDEP participant if needed, to enable the participant to secure full time employment.
It is envisioned that, on completion of a Host Employer contract period, the CDEP participant will gain permanent employment with the contracted host or another employer, in a similar industry.
Employers and participants are indentured through a Host Employer Contract, to ensure the successful delivery of training outcomes.
